Levitra General Informations
Levitra is contraindicated in men taking nitrates and chemical donors of nitric oxide (a group of drugs indicated for the treatment dell’angina pectoris or chest pain). Levitra is contraindicated in men aged over 75 years that make use of potent CYP 3A4 inhibitors (ritonavir, indinavir, ketoconazole and itraconazole). The safety of vardenafil has not been studied in the following subgroups of patients, and use is therefore contraindicated until further information will be available: patients with severe liver failure, advanced stages of kidney disease requiring dialysis, hypotension, recent myocardial infarction, unstable angina and abnormal hereditary degenerative retinal.
For most patients, the recommended starting dose of Levitra is 10mg taken orally 25 to 60 minutes before sexual activity. The effect of Levitra can last up to nearly five hours.
Levitra acts directly on the penis and only when it comes to sexual stimulation. The effect of Levitra, it was stated, it begins after about 25 minutes and lasts up to five hours. Side effects can be headaches and facial flushing.
The research was conducted on 805 men with erectile dysfunction. 75% of the sample group who took the drug got an erection on the first try, compared with 46% of patients who took placebo. A success rate and that ‘increased to 91% among subjects who continued treatment.
The drug works by the same mechanism of sildenafil Pfizer (blocking an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5) but with different chemical characteristics and thus different times of action.
