Derived from the bark of the French maritime pine, pycnogenol is actually a group of compounds that have been shown to stimulate the activity of the enzyme responsible for converting arginine to nitric oxide. The combination of pycnogenol and arginine is believed to work synergistically to improve vascular endothelial function and presumably erection dynamics. A three month study of Bulgarian men showed that this combination, especially when pycnogenol was increased, dramatically improved normal erections from 5% to 92.5%.
